* All bunkers that required topping up with imported sand have been addressed.
* Reinstatement of the drainage work is now complete with a mixture of turf, seed and sand used.
* The potholes are still to be filled, this will be completed once we have prioritised getting course conditions on track.


We are aiming to carry out maintenance of the greens w/c 29th April. Unfortunately, this operation has been delayed due to saturation of the rootzone. The greens will be verti-cut, top dressed, solid tined and overseeded over the course of a few days depending on ground and weather conditions.

We will have a follow up deeper aeration operation using a verti-drain on the greens a few weeks after the overseeding program. As always, we will plan around the daily golfing calendar, However on the Monday and Tuesday a temporary green will be in use at any one time. It must be noted, this is essential work in maintaining turf quality.


Now we have managed a few dry days, the focus will be on Spring turf conditioning. I anticipate that with the prolonged saturated condition of the turf since July last year, we may suffer from surface matting. This is a return of the fibrous layer that we have been striving to break down the last three years.

Turf conditioning will include increased mowing frequencies and ongoing spray applications, ie. wetters and liquid feeds. Greens and tees will receive granular feeds. All closely mown areas and semi rough will have a selective weedkiller application.

Areas of rough will be flail mowed early summer in line with our goal to thin out rank grasses and promote the finer grasses. All operations to be carried out during the next six to eight weeks. Imported turf that has been used to turf around the refurbed bunkers on the 9th will be left with grass on for as long as it takes to root and mature. Fairway lines have been marked out where needed. We will be managing some of the turf paths in a different way this year, raising heights of cut to hopefully promote more sustainable swards in high traffic areas.
